Position Summary

The Boiler Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the boiler to ensure uninterrupted steam supply for plant operations. The role includes monitoring boiler parameters, maintaining water quality, and performing routine blowdown and equipment checks. The operator supports preventive maintenance, ensures compliance with IBR and safety standards, and maintains accurate operational documentation. Coordination with utilities, maintenance, and production teams is essential to maintain reliability and efficiency.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Operate the boiler safely as per SOPs and maintain required steam pressure and temperature.

  • Start-up, shutdown, and regular operation of boilers and auxiliary systems.

  • Monitor boiler parameters such as pressure, temperature, TDS, water level, and fuel usage.

  • Perform routine blowdown (manual/auto) and maintain correct water chemistry.

  • Conduct daily inspection of boiler components—safety valves, feed pumps, burners, gauges, pressure switches, etc.

  • Identify and report abnormalities or equipment malfunction immediately to the maintenance team.

  • Assist maintenance during minor repairs, cleaning, de-scaling, and annual shutdown activities.

  • Maintain proper lubrication, cleaning, and upkeep of boiler and accessories.

Required Experience & Knowledge

Education

  • ITI – Boiler Attendant / Fitter / Mechanical (preferred)

  • Experience

    • 1 to 5 years of experience in operating boilers in manufacturing/chemical/pharma/utility plants.
