Position Summary

Network, Systems and Support Engineer with service desk leadership. Expertise in Microsoft 365 administration, Windows Server environments, and enterprise networking. This role requires a technical professional capable of supporting our hybrid infrastructure, ensuring seamless integration between cloud services and on-premises systems while maintaining optimal performance and security.

Responsibilities will include:

Network Infrastructure Management:

  • Design, configure, and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and wireless networks.
  • Monitor network performance, troubleshoot latency, packet loss, and connectivity issues.
  • Implement and manage VLANs, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP), and QoS policies.
  • Ensure network security by configuring firewalls (Cisco ASA, Sophos, Fortinet), IDS/IPS, and NAC solutions.
  • Perform network capacity planning and scalability assessments.

Responsibilities Cont.

Server & Systems Administration:

  • Deploy, manage, and maintain Windows Server (2016/2019/2022) and Terminal server environments.
  • Administer Active Directory, O365, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and Azure AD.
  • Manage virtualization platforms (VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, Nutanix).
  • Implement backup, disaster recovery (DR), and high-availability (HA) solutions.

 

Service Desk Leadership

  • Resolve Tier 2/3 escalations for complex O365/network/server issues
  • Mentor junior staff on root cause analysis methodologies
  • Maintain knowledge base with advanced troubleshooting guides

Responsibilities Cont.

Security & Compliance:

  • Apply security patches, firmware updates, and vulnerability remediations.
  • Enforce Zero Trust, least privilege access, and network segmentation.

 

Automation & Optimization:

  • Automate repetitive tasks using PowerShell, Bash, Python, or Ansible.
  • Optimize server and network performance through load balancing, caching, and traffic shaping.
  • Document network diagrams, configurations, and operational procedures

Responsibilities Cont.

Collaboration & Support:

  • Work with IT teams to resolve escalated Tier 3 infrastructure issues.
  • Assist in data center migrations, cloud transitions, and network upgrades.
  • Provide guidance to junior engineers and service desk team

Required Experience & Knowledge

Education

  • BSc/BA in IT, Computer Science or relevant field

 

Experience

  • 3-5 years total experience in combined systems/network administration
  • 2+ years specifically managing O365 environments (SharePoint/Teams)
  • 3+ years Windows Server administration in production environments
  • Network troubleshooting experience with Wireshark/ping/traceroute
  • PowerShell scripting proficiency for automation tasks
