Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chemical Technician Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating and monitoring chemical processes and equipment in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety protocols, and production schedules. The role involves preparing chemical batches, maintaining equipment, process monitoring and making process adjustments to ensure compliance with quality, safety, and environmental regulations.
Responsibilities will include:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Set up, operate, and monitor multiple chemical processes in a timely manner.
• Perform analytical tests on raw materials and final products, ensuring compliance with quality standards. Record and analyze data from these tests.
• Record and monitor multiple process parameters and adjust variables based on the data to maintain optimal operating conditions.
• Charge raw materials to the process, monitor process waste, and package the final product according to specifications.
• Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
• Participate in process risk HAZOPs and Process Hazard Reviews, contributing to safety and compliance efforts.
• Conduct task and risk assessments along with safety job observations to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
• Work closely with other operators, supervisors, and technical staff to ensure smooth production operations. Participate in shift change-over procedures and daily production meetings.
• Identify and resolve equipment malfunctions and process deviations. Communicate issues to maintenance and management promptly.
• Ensure thorough documentation of process conditions, safety checks, and equipment maintenance in compliance with regulatory standards.
• Respond promptly to emergency situations, including chemical spills or equipment failures, following established protocols.
• Participate in training and development programs to stay updated on industry practices. Suggest improvements to enhance efficiency, safety, and process optimization.
• Troubleshoot issues with production equipment and processes, ensuring minimal downtime.
• Maintain cleanliness throughout the facility, with a focus on production areas.
• Perform minor maintenance tasks and complete other assigned projects as determined by management.
Required Experience & Knowledge
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
• Diploma or degree in Chemistry, Chemical Technology, Chemical Engineering or related field. Technical training or certification in chemical process operations required.
• 10+ years of experience in a chemical manufacturing environment or a similar industry required.
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, ETC.:
• Mechanical, maintenance, and/or electrical knowledge preferred.
• Knowledge of safety and quality regulations, including OSHA and EPA standards.
• Experience in using digital process control systems (DCS/SCADA) and basic computer applications for data recording.
• Knowledge of process safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Understanding chemical reactions, heat exchange, and pressure systems.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Ability to identify opportunities for process improvements and participate in their implementation.

The salary range for the position of Chemical Technical Operartor is $30-35 per hour. Many factors go into determining employee pay within the range including prior experience, current skills, location/labor market, internal equity and other factors as permitted by law. This salary range is provided in good faith and is intended to display the value of the company's base pay compensation for all statewide locations across the United States. Salary is dependent on a multitude of factors, including but not limited to the physical worksite location, candidate's skill set, level of experience, education, and internal peer compensation comparisons.
