Position Summary
The Mechanical Project Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation and management of the site’s mechanical and manufacturing systems. This includes coordinating with internal and external teams to ensure that systems are installed and operated safely and efficiently.
Responsibilities will include:
- Support and collaborate with Maintenance, Engineering, Safety and Operations Teams
- Learn and understand existing site utility distribution systems (HVAC, city and river water, nitrogen, electrical, …).
- Provide support for process equipment and utility replacement or installation
- Provide Technical Support to Maintenance Department
- Develop and execute preventive and predictive maintenance programs to minimize equipment downtime.
- Project Management and Capital project development tasks including:
- ROI Justification, budget development and tracking
- Communication with vendors and external contractors
- Developing and communicating project schedules
- Developing bid packages including drawings and BOM’s
- Commissioning, diagnostics and troubleshooting of mechanical equipment impacting plant performance, including minor maintenance when applicable.
- Utilize CAD software to read existing prints and produce new prints
- Perform calculations on site utility systems to determine opportunities for greater energy efficiency
- Support of site safety initiatives including participation in process safety reviews (HAZOP, LOPA) and implementation of engineering controls for identified risks.
- Contribute to root cause analysis, continuous and reliability initiatives to reduce downtime and improve plant efficiency.
Required Experience & Knowledge
- Bachelor’s Degree in any Engineering Discipline, or related field, Mechanical Engineering preferred.
Experience Qualifications – Required(R)/Preferred(P):
Specific Experience (Required):
- 5+ years of experience in an industrial, chemical or related manufacturing environment
- Project Management abilities
- Hands-on experience with industrial equipment, such as pumps, HVAC systems, rotating equipment and process heaters/chillers.
- Familiarity with industrial instrumentation.
- Experience in CAD software
Other Experience/Competencies (Preferred):
- Familiarity with standards such as NEC, NFPA, OSHA and NYS building codes
- Industrial power distribution
- Experience with LOTO processes

Compensation
The salary range for the position of Scale-Up Manager is $,000 - $,000. Many factors go into determining employee pay within the range including prior experience, current skills, location/labor market, internal equity and other factors as permitted by law.
This salary range is provided in good faith and is intended to display the value of the company's base pay compensation for all statewide locations across the United States. Salary is dependent on a multitude of factors, including but not limited to the physical worksite location, candidate's skill set, level of experience, education, and internal peer compensation comparisons.
