Position Summary

The Production Supervisor oversees daily chemical manufacturing operations to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production. This role provides leadership to production operators and technicians, ensuring adherence to process standards, safety protocols, and production targets. The supervisor plays a key role in promoting a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement. This position will oversee 2nd shift. 

Responsibilities will include:

• Supervise and coordinate day-to-day manufacturing activities to achieve production schedules and performance targets.

• Ensure equipment is operated safely, efficiently, and within established process parameters.

• Monitor production metrics such as yield, throughput, and downtime; identify and resolve variances.

• Maintain accurate batch records, process logs, and production reports.

• Coordinate with Maintenance, Quality, Logistics, and Engineering to support smooth production flow.

• Enforce compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory standards (OSHA, WHMIS, TDG, EPA, etc.).

• Ensure all operators use appropriate PPE and follow chemical handling procedures.

• Support and participate in process safety procedures and emergency response activities.

• Ensure adherence to SOPs, process recipes, and batch control systems.

• Work closely with Quality Assurance to ensure all products meet customer and regulatory specifications.

• Investigate process deviations or quality issues and implement corrective actions.

• Support audits and maintain required documentation for compliance and traceability.

• Lead, coach, and motivate production operators to achieve performance goals.

• Foster teamwork, accountability, and continuous learning within the production team.

• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance safety, quality, and efficiency.

• Recommend process changes or equipment upgrades to reduce waste and improve reliability.

Required Experience & Knowledge

Specific Experience (Required):

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related technical field.
  • 7 years of experience in chemical or process manufacturing, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.

        Other Experience/Competencies (Preferred):

  • Strong knowledge of chemical processing equipment (reactors, blenders, pumps, distillation, etc.).
  • Understanding of process safety management (PSM), hazardous material handling, and batch control systems.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making ability
  • Strong attention to detail and process discipline
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence
  • WHMIS / TDG / OSHA Training
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent process improvement training

Compensation Data

The salary range for the position of Production Supervisor is $65,000 - $85,000. Many factors go into determining employee pay within the range including prior experience, current skills, location/labor market, internal equity and other factors as permitted by law.

 

This salary range is provided in good faith and is intended to display the value of the company's base pay compensation for all statewide locations across the United States. Salary is dependent on a multitude of factors, including but not limited to the physical worksite location, candidate's skill set, level of experience, education, and internal peer compensation comparisons.
