DEPARTMENT: Finance

POSITION SUMMARY: The Finance Manager is responsible for all UK accounting for monthly and year-end financial statements, tax and business partnering activities on costs, sales, capex, cash, forecasts, budgets and internal controls.

REPORTS TO: Head of Finance UK & Ireland and dotted line to Site Director

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • US Reporting – monthly, year end,
  • Statutory accounts, Corporation Tax, VAT, Payroll, Audit
  • Cash, Working Capital and Treasury Management (including weekly forecasts, FX) and Tax Planning / Compliance
  • Management accounting, information, analysis, variances, trends, business drivers, reporting (link into market, product).
  • Financial Planning & Analysis – Sales, GM and SG&A - Forecast and Budgets, Bridges etc
  • Support, financial advice and sounding board to Site Director to enable more informed decision-making capability
  • Business Partner to Sales, Operations, Logistics, R&D, IT and HR etc
  • KPI’s / Balanced Scorecard - operational and financial at appropriate frequency
  • Profit improvement – revenue increase, cost efficiency / reduction
  • Profitability analysis – product, customer, ex R&D, operational efficiencies
  • Product Costing system
  • Modelling, Investment appraisals / DCF / spend control (including capex)
  • Relationships with external and internal stakeholders (including Bank and Pensions)
  • Risk Management – business risk, insurance, internal controls, fraud
  • Processes, practices and controls – efficient and effective to meet business needs
  • Systems – financial and business (ERP), including upgrade / implementation
  • Corporate Governance and Company Secretarial contact

 

ANCILLARY TASKS:

  • Execute any additional tasks as required
  • Attend training as required
  • Assist other employees as necessary
  • Ensure health and safety standards are maintained at all times
  • Maintain workspace in a neat and tidy fashion
  • Participate in site projects as required

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • 3+ years' experience in a lead Finance position, preferably as part of a US Group, spanning multiple markets/ sectors
  • Professional Accountancy qualification (Chartered, Management, Certified)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, ETC.:

  • Statutory accounting and tax knowledge including management of audit process
  • Track record of initiating, driving, developing, and implementing strategies and plans relating to outcomes and impact
  • ERP systems – implementation, processes, improvements
  • Projects – multi-disciplined experience and delivery
  • Good communication and presentation skills
  • Experience of working in a manufacturing / distribution / matrix management organization
  • Professional Accountancy qualification (Chartered, Management, Certified)
  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree
  • Competent with MS office applications
  • Fluent English
