Position Summary
The Environmental Health Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for assisting the Senior EHS Manager and the Site Production Manager with tasks related to health, safety, and environmental hazards in the workplace as well as administrative needs for recordkeeping, audits, training for EHS across Centerville and Ogden sites.
Responsibilities will include:
- Manage EHS in the workplace as well as administrative needs for recordkeeping, audits/inspections, training for EHS across Centerville and Ogden sites.
- Report EHS regulatory requirements applicable to Centerville and Ogden sites to Federal and State applicable authorities (OSHA, EPA, DOT, any other local government authority(ies) as required).
- Facilitate and perform Risk Assessments in conjunction with department heads as applicable.
- Consolidate the site Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), report to all site employees and to the Corporate Senior EHS Manager monthly.
- Assist the Corporate Senior EHS Manager in monitoring EHS industry regulatory standards and best practices
- Assist in the development of safety guidelines and related environmental, health and safety communications and educational information
- Consolidate the Corporate Near Miss and Safety Concern Program across Centerville and Ogden sites.
- Review reported safety concerns, near misses and incidents
- Assist with near misses and incidents investigation process
- Assist with implementing applicable preventive and corrective actions
- Assist with communicating and sharing safety concerns, near misses and incidents across Centerville and Ogden sites in conjunction with related lessons learned
- Collaborate with the site Department Heads to ensure EHS inspections/audits are coordinated and deficiencies are minimized and corrected
- Collaborate with the site Department Heads to maintain all logs and documentation associated with EHS permits and regulatory requirements
- Ensure the EHS site-specific SOPs are aligned with the Corporate EHS policy and guidelines
- Collaborate with the site Department Heads to maintain and update as needed SOP’s for all safe work practices and equipment
- Maintain filing systems regarding corporate EHS policy and programs
- Practice safe working techniques and re-enforce the EHS policies, guidelines, and procedures as set out by the Company
- Provide advice and assist with the effective implementation of the Corporate EHS Policy and strategies
- Provide guidance and direction in EHS programs at the employee/supervisor level to ensure a common and effective approach
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Required Experience & Knowledge
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Safety, or related field is required
- 3 or more years of relevant EHS experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Safety Certification(s) (CSP, ASP, SMS, OHST, CHST, STS, STSC, CET, NEBOSH) is a plus
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize workload
- Comprehensive knowledge of the field's policies, procedures, and practices
- Experience in the Chemical Manufacturing Industry is desired
Work Environment
- Primarily based in a manufacturing and warehouse environment with routine exposure to production equipment, chemicals, noise, and varying temperatures.
- Regular walking of production areas and interaction with employees across multiple shifts.
- Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- May require occasional travel between company facilities and regulatory agencies.
