Position Summary

The procurement manager leads and owns the sourcing selection and procurement functions directly associated with the company’s needs for raw materials and indirect materials required for production. Supports sourcing needs of various departments related to misc. production and office supplies. Ensures materials are secured and delivered on time, at competitive price levels and EOQ’s consistent with company policy and quality standards. Manages and maintains positive relationships with the supplier network ensuring adequate visibility and support of demand changes and sourcing concerns. This position is further responsible for the timely planning and scheduling of receipt and inventory control of the materials as required for current and forecasted production needs.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Manage the supply of raw material and packaging material to support the company’s production schedules.
  • Ensure timely receipt of raw and packaging needs from suppliers to support targeted inventory levels.
  • Communicate regularly with management and production team on any sourcing challenges.
  • Ensure optimized pricing of raw/pack and related office supplies to maximize margin contribution and minimize cost fluctuations.
  • Ensuring the expansion of the supplier network to enable sourcing options to support critical product needs and minimize disruptions.
  • Tracking inventory and miscellaneous supplies and other items necessary to complete production plans.
  • Support the purchasing function by optimizing raw material buy, supplier sourcing and best pricing.
  • Manage strong vendor relationships tracking any SLA’s, KPI’s and various metrics.
  • Partner with Warehouse/Shipping and Logistics to ensure accuracy of inventory and systems.
  • Be an industry expert on material characteristics including quality specifications and differentiation in reactions to production processes.
  • Support the needs and development of staff members including conducting employee evaluations and reviews, goal development and tracking and employee advancement and growth.  Drive process flows and improvements in sourcing and systems utilization.

Required Experience & Knowledge

  • Industry knowledge including supplier network and materials to optimize sourcing and product quality.
  • Excellent language, math and reasoning ability. 
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality within the company and with external vendors.
  • Word processing: Office, Excel, Project Management.
  • Contact Management systems (Google Aps Suite).
  • Requires Current UT DL, Annual GMP Training
  • Time Management, Production scheduling shipping/Receiving, Management of team leaders in multiple locations, problem solving, leadership, team building, planning & execution, warehousing experience, are also critical skills that must be utilized.
  • Willingness for additional training and professional development.
  • Record of accomplishing assignments on time.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and multitask.
  • Must have excellent eye for strategy and detail & cleanliness/sanitation.
  • Adapt well to change and growth.
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum 2 to 4 years of industry and procurement experience.
