Position Summary
The Production Scheduler is responsible for creating, maintaining, and communicating production schedules to ensure efficient operations, on-time order fulfillment, and optimal use of labor, equipment, and materials. This role works closely with Production, Quality, Warehouse, and Purchasing teams to balance customer demand with plant capacity while maintaining safety and quality standards. The Production Scheduler must develop and maintain a strong understanding of the company’s product lines, finished goods, and associated production processes in order to effectively manage workflows, set scheduling priorities, and support overall operational performance.
Responsibilities will include:
- Create and maintain daily and weekly production schedules based on customer orders, forecasts, and available resources.
- Coordinate with Production Supervisors to confirm staffing, equipment availability, and production priorities.
- Monitor production progress and adjust schedules due to equipment issues, labor shortages, or material availability.
- Communicate schedule changes clearly to operations, warehouse, and quality teams.
- Ensure materials and supplies are available prior to scheduled production runs.
- Track work orders and ensure accurate data entry in ERP/MRP systems.
- Maintain production planning records and reports.
- Support on-time delivery and customer service goals.
- Participate in daily production meetings and cross-functional planning meetings.
- Assist in identifying capacity constraints and recommending solutions.
- Follow GMP, safety, and quality standards in all scheduling activities.
- Support continuous improvement efforts to improve workflow and reduce downtime.
- Develop and maintain a strong understanding of the company’s product lines, finished goods, and the specific production activities associated with each product to effectively manage production workflows and scheduling priorities.
Required Experience & Knowledge
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field preferred.
- 1–3 years of experience in scheduling, planning, or manufacturing operations preferred.
