Position Summary
This position is an outside sales role and is an integral part of the sales team who plays a critical role in sales, marketing, sales budgeting, risk management, efficiency measures, and customer satisfaction. Requires the employee to work effectively across the organization and relies on their experience and judgment to plan and accomplish agreed company goals.
The Account Manager must be based in one of the following areas to support the expansion of our sales team:
- SCC Area II Chapters – Michigan, Midwest, St. Louis, Twin Cities
- SCC Area V Chapters – Lake Erie, Ohio Valley, Ontario, Quebec
Responsibilities will include:
- Generating, qualifying, and prospecting new Personal Care / Cosmetics opportunities with customers in Midwest / Canada.
- Engaging with various positions at customers including Chemists, Product Development, Procurement and Marketing for support.
- Communicating and building customer relationships with contract manufacturers, finished brands and key domestic manufacturers to drive Personal Care ingredients
- Developing sales to new and existing customers with a constantly expanding product portfolio
- Identifying technical needs of R&D and creativity of marketing.
- Managing Sales CRM pipeline proactively, recognizing customers' stage in the decision cycle and setting action to the next step
- Understanding the territory situation, current accounts, prospects, competitors, and suppliers
- Understanding customer objectives, needs, and profitability drivers
- Keeping up-to-date and informed on market, industry, and regulatory issues
- Identifying and onboarding new products and Manufacturers for cosmetics and personal care market.
- Strategic negotiation with procurement & supply chain departments; provide monthly business update to management
- Calling/presenting/traveling to direct end users, contract manufacturers and formulary labs
- Scheduling phone calls, webinar presentations and video conferencing with prospects and customers
- Ability to cross sell customers with greater potential into larger sales
- Prospecting via internet leads, cold-calling, networking events, tradeshows, SCC events/seminars etc.
- Working with Product Managers/Sales Reps/Customers/Operations/ on any technical information we need to gather
- Participating in and planning of Personal Care and Cosmetics tradeshows
- 40-60% travel will be required
The salary range for the position of Account Manager is $130,000 - $160,000 per year. Many factors go into determining employee pay within the range including prior experience, current skills, location/labor market, internal equity and other factors as permitted by law.
Required Experience & Knowledge
- BS or MS with 5-10 years of experience in PC / Cosmetics.
- Must have connections within personal care / Cosmetics Industries and located in Midwest area.
- Must reside in Mid-west (SCC Area II and V) with experience in Sale and Business development with preference in technical background / R&D.
- Experience in managing projects internally with other departments and externally with customers
- Deep understanding of value chain and key players within the personal care market space
- Strong communication, ability to create presentations, communicate marketing and technical information to a broad audience
- Ability to seek new opportunities for a wide range of products.
- Ability to build strong relationships
