Position Summary
The Commercial Operations Analyst serves as a key business partner to Sales, Operations, and Supply Chain leadership, with responsibility for overseeing and optimizing the end-to-end commercial execution process. This role exercises independent judgment in prioritizing customer needs, managing order fulfillment strategies, resolving complex service issues, and shaping internal processes to ensure alignment with organizational objectives. By analyzing trends, anticipating risks, and making recommendations that influence operational and commercial decisions, the Commercial Coordinator supports strategic planning, strengthens customer relationships, and ensures consistent delivery against business goals.
Responsibilities will include:
Customer & Sales Support
- Serving as the primary commercial operations advisor to Sales leadership, using independent assessment of customer needs, product availability, and business priorities to guide decision-making and influence account strategy.
- Determining service priorities and customer-level fulfillment approaches to meet strategic objectives.
Customer Relationship Management
- Managing key customer accounts to negotiate service expectations, resolve complex issues, and recommend modifications to commercial terms.
- Making decisions regarding escalation, resolution pathways, and service recovery strategies.
Order Management
- Owning the full lifecycle of customer orders, ensuring high standards of accuracy, regulatory compliance, and fulfillment performance. Ownership of back-office operations at customer-level.
- Using discretion to approve exceptions, adjust service commitments, and align cross-functional resources.
Sales Forecasting & Commercial Planning
- Partnering with Sales to evaluate customer demand, develop forecast recommendations, and translate insights into supply planning actions.
- Independently analyzing customer trends and propose adjustments that impact production planning and inventory strategy.
Delivery Coordination
- Providing guidance to fulfillment coordinators. Coordinating with the Ag Operations team and third-party tollers/suppliers to ensure reliable, on-time product delivery. Anticipate and mitigate potential disruptions through early visibility and cross-functional alignment.
Documentation & Systems
- Serving as functional owner and ensuring the integrity and accuracy of all ERP (SAGE) data and commercial documentation, enabling seamless internal workflows, transparent reporting, and strong compliance across the order-to-cash process.
Month-End Close Support
- Exercising judgment in validating revenue-impacting transactions, approving shipment releases, and ensuring financial accuracy for month-end close.
- Identifying discrepancies and recommending corrective actions.
Inventory Management
- Strategically managing sellable inventory levels to support seasonal demand patterns and customer requirements, ensuring availability while minimizing excess and obsolescence.
Continuous Improvement
- Leading efforts to identify and implement process improvements that enhance order accuracy, optimize delivery performance, streamline workflows, and elevate the overall customer experience.
Status Tracking
- Maintaining strategic visibility of order flow, inventory positions, and delivery schedules, providing clear, actionable updates to sales and leadership to support decision-making and customer communication.
Issue Resolution
- Resolving high-impact pricing, fulfillment, and service issues.
- Acting as the final escalation point for customer-facing operational issues.
The salary range for the position of Commercial Operations Analyst is $80,000 - $100,000 per year. Many factors go into determining employee pay within the range including prior experience, current skills, location/labor market, internal equity and other factors as permitted by law.
Required Experience & Knowledge
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2+ years of experience in Customer Service or Sales Support roles.
- Agri Chemical industry experience required.
- Proficient with ERP Systems and MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Experience in developing time management strategies in a fast-paced environment, to ensure work is delivered within required timelines.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills with a customer-centric mindset.
- Highly motivated, detail-orientated & results driven, with a focus on accuracy and documentation.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Proficient in English with strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to set priorities and work with minimum supervision.
- Be a highly responsive, proactive team player while maintaining a positive & respectful attitude.
- Effectively communicates with peers, interdepartmental colleagues, and clients.
