Position Summary
The Key Account Manager is responsible for managing and nurturing relationships with key clients. This role involves developing strategies to support client engagement and drive revenue growth by aligning company solutions with client needs. The Key Account Manager will lead the development and delivery of tailored pitch presentations, ensuring that the company's services are effectively positioned in response to market demands. This role requires strategic oversight of resource allocation and collaboration with internal teams to ensure the successful execution of client initiatives. The individual in this position will play a pivotal role in expanding business within existing accounts and ensuring the long-term success of key relationships in a competitive and evolving industry. This position will collaborate with Portfolio Managers.
Responsibilities will include:
Account Management:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned accounts, ensuring client satisfaction and retention.
- Develop and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with key stakeholders, decision-makers, and influencers within client organizations.
- Regularly meet with clients to review account status, address concerns, and identify new business opportunities.
- Monitor market trends and competitive activity to proactively recommend solutions and strategies that benefit the client and the company.
- Provide ongoing support to clients, addressing their needs and resolving any issues that arise.
Sales Strategy and Execution:
- Identify and pursue opportunities for upselling and cross-selling within existing accounts.
- Drive revenue growth by aligning client needs with company solutions, achieving or exceeding sales targets.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure the successful delivery of services and solutions.
Pitch Development and Presentation:
- Develop compelling and tailored pitch decks to showcase the value proposition and capabilities of the company’s offerings.
- Position services effectively to meet the specific needs of each client, demonstrating industry knowledge and understanding of challenges and trends.
- Lead client presentations, negotiations, and closing of new business deals.
Resource Allocation and Coordination:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., marketing, operations, and product development) to allocate resources and deliver tailored solutions to clients.
- Ensure that resources are efficiently utilized to meet client demands while managing costs and timelines effectively.
- Develop and implement strategic plans to optimize account performance and profitability.
The position of Key Account Manager will require global travel. A valid passport is required. 25% travel required during the course of the business year.
The salary range for the position of Key Account Manager is $200,000 - $225,000 per year. Many factors go into determining employee pay within the range including prior experience, current skills, location/labor market, internal equity and other factors as permitted by law.
Required Experience & Knowledge
- Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, business, chemistry, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in account management or sales, preferably in the pharmaceutical and/or chemical raw material industry.
- Proven track record of managing and growing major accounts in a B2B environment.
- Strong understanding of the pharmaceutical and chemical raw material industry, including its challenges, regulations, and market dynamics.
- Demonstrated experience developing and delivering pitch decks and strategic presentations.
- Proficiency in Actylis sales software and MS Office for pitch deck creation.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines
- Strong writing and computer skills
- Must demonstrate excellent communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills
- Must be highly detail-oriented and organized, able to work both independently and as a team player with a positive attitude
- Effectively communicate with peers, interdepartmental colleagues, and clients
- Proficient use of standard office meeting/communication software including Teams and SharePoint
- Expert use in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, and Projects
- Experience in developing time management strategies to ensure work is performed within required timelines
