Position Summary

 

The Operational Commodity Manager (OCM) works closely with the Global Category Manager, Business Unit Leadership, International Purchasing Offices, Transportation, Finance, and Supplier Quality and Regulatory to reduce costs and source quality products.

 

The Operational Commodity Manager works with Suppliers to optimize supply from the Actylis supply base. This is accomplished via continuity of supply analysis/management, supplier development activities, supplier capacity management, and crisp management of new product introductions.

 

The OCM serves as liaison on supplier development and Regulatory activities and is responsible for Global supply planning for their specific Business unit. The OCM ensures sourcing efforts meet business goals and objectives and engages in activities related to global sourcing, supplier selection, product delivery, and quality.
 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Achieving Procurement performance: savings and payment terms.
  • Engaging in sourcing activities ensuring cost reduction, quality products and regulatory compliance.
  • Evaluation and development of the Supply base.
  • Facilitating supplier qualifications with supplier Quality, Regulatory, and end customer testing and analysis.
  • Maintaining and strengthening supplier relationships - Coordinates Quarterly Business Review (QBR) meetings with strategic suppliers.
  • Working on supply optimization: ensuring continuity for existing products and availability for new products.
    • Working directly with suppliers or second-tier suppliers as required to ensure capacity and continuity of supply.
    • Working with regional teams to validate the global demand forecasts.
    • Coordinating global supply/demand analyses and balances available supply globally against regional requirements.
    • Performing long-range capacity analyses for their Business Unit.
    • Working closely with suppliers and internal teams to ensure product availability at product launch.
  • Implementing the Procurement process (MSA signed, sustainability, supplier qualification, new product approval, etc.).
  • Working with functional leaders to perform analyses and identify areas of performance improvement.


The salary range for the position of Operational Commodity Manager is $75,000 - $90,000 per year. Many factors go into determining employee pay within the range including prior experience, current skills, location/labor market, internal equity and other factors as permitted by law.
 

Required Experience & Knowledge

 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Supply Chain or Procurement.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of high-level experience in Procurement, Materials Management, or related.
  • Proficient in Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint, MS Project, and SAGE ERP.
  • Technical and/or market knowledge in Nutrition and Chemistry or Biochemistry.
  • Outstanding communication skills and ability to work at high level within organizational structures.
