Position Summary

 

The primary responsibility will be to manage and grow Actylis’ full portfolio of excipients, APIs, and intermediates at new and existing customers and to expand and advance the pipeline projects in assigned territory.  The Sales Manager is responsible for handling a portfolio of accounts in a specific territory and building strong relationships with customers in efforts to maintain current business and develop further sales. They will be the lead point of contact for all key client matters, anticipate the customer’s needs, work within the company to ensure deadlines for the client are met, and help the client succeed.

Responsibilities will include:

 

  • Managing and growing Actylis’ portfolio at established accounts and develop business with new customers.
  • Expanding and advancing Actylis’ pipeline through close collaboration with R&D, business development, purchasing, and operations within assigned customers/region.
  • Generating, qualifying, and prospecting new opportunities within existing and new customers in the territory.
  • Completing required monthly face-to-face customer visits and record in CRM. 
  • Through relationship building, striving to understand implicit and explicit needs of customers.
  • Managing communications between clients and internal teams, including external partners.
  • Participating in customer Request for Quote (RFQ) and providing product quotations and pricing.
  • Negotiating pricing and contracts with the clients and having a full understanding of profitability per quote.
  • Resolving client issues and complaints with the support of other teams within the company.
  • Submitting annual territory sales budget per account / territory, maintain accurate forecasts, and manage opportunity pipelines within CRM.
  • Completing monthly reporting: understanding monthly YTD sales & GP vs budget, opportunities pipeline status, highlights and lowlights per initiative.
  • Completing, updating, and executing the annual territory plan covering key accounts, territory objectives, target accounts and strategies. Contribute to Key Account Plans as needed. 
  • Attending trade shows, industry conferences and local pharma organizations to keep current with industry trends and identify new opportunities.   

 

TRAVEL:  Extensive travel required within territory – minimum 50% of time.  Occasional travel outside territory.

 

The salary range for the position of Sales Manager is $125,000 - $150,000 per year. Many factors go into determining employee pay within the range including prior experience, current skills, location/labor market, internal equity and other factors as permitted by law.
 

Required Experience & Knowledge

 

  • Degree in Pharmaceutical Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related scientific disciplines or Degree in Business with min 10-year relevant market experience.
  • Minimum 5 to 10 years’ experience in sales / business development of APIs, excipients, and intermediates to pharmaceutical manufacturers.  Comfortable in technical/scientific aspects of pharmaceutical and API development.  Knowledge of Pharmaceutical Quality & Regulatory requirements.
  • Proven results of delivering client solutions and meeting sales goals.
  • Multilevel sales contacts at the top pharmaceutical accounts in region.
  • In-depth understanding of value chain and key players within related market space.
  • Self-motivated and self-directed, eager to expand the company with new sales.
  • Able to analyze data and sales statistics and translate results into solutions.
  • Excellent interpersonal relationship skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; must be a listener, a presenter, and a people-person.
  • Strong negotiation skills, with ability follow-through on client contracts.
  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently, project management skills.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.  Proficiency in other languages is beneficial.
