Position Summary:
Category Manager, Nutrition is responsible for owning and developing a category of products and suppliers across China and East Asia. This role combines proactive category management, supplier ownership, and commercial enablement, acting as the link between regional sourcing capabilities and global sales execution. Based in China, the role leverages proximity to key manufacturers to build partnerships, improve pricing competitiveness, and identify new product opportunities that support global growth.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
• Category & Product Management
• Own defined product categories and develop deep market expertise
• Identify and develop new sourcing opportunities aligned with strategy
• Ensure all products meet quality and regulatory standards
• Develop long term & Multi-Year Sourcing Roadmaps
• Supplier Ownership & Strategic Sourcing
• Own and manage relationships with key suppliers across China and East Asia
• Build strategic partnerships to secure pricing, capacity, and priority access
• Act as the single point of ownership for supplier communication
• Conduct Business reviews with Strategic suppliers
• Evaluate supplier capabilities including quality, reliability, and scalability
• Identify alternate OR dual sourcing opportunities.
• Develop Business continuity plans
• Monitor Geopolitical & Regulatory risks.
• Ensure Supplier Compliances.
• Market Intelligence & Pricing
• Provide structured market updates including pricing and supply trends
• Understand region wide category specific supply base and propose to global Sales teams on potential in-sourcing opportunities
• Maintain pricing, MOQ, and lead time data
• Support landed cost visibility including logistics and tariffs
• Contribute to centralized tools and product databases
• Commercial Enablement
• Support sales teams with product insights and supplier intelligence
• Continually engage with Sales/Portfolio Management teams to establish demand-supply visibility and new product/supplier development plan
• Support key customer opportunities
• Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Work with Quality, Supply Chain and Customer Service on demand and inventory
• Support sample strategy and availability
• Coordinate issue resolution for supply and quality
• Align sourcing with global commercial priorities
• Process & Governance
• Support development of structured category management model
• Reinforce centralized supplier ownership
• Help transition from reactive sourcing to proactive category management
• Improve tools and processes for global efficiency
Education & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Life Sciences, or related field
• 5+ years in global sourcing, product management, or commercial roles
• Experience in nutrition or specialty ingredients preferred
• Experience working with China/East Asia manufacturers
• Strategic Sourcing knowledge and implementation experience
• Understanding of global best practices in the industry supply chain
